POGGIO SORBELLO
Small 10-hectare winery, offering tours and tastings overlooking the vineyards, in Centoia, south of Cortona.
Fifteen kilometers south of Cortona, in the small town of Centoia, the Poggio Sorbello winery lies on the "Strada del Vino Terre di Arezzo" wine route. Don't hesitate to contact Daniele Baldetti, a passionate winemaker who will reveal the secrets behind the making of his vintages, during a tour of the vineyards and cellar, upon reservation. Situated between three regions, Arezzo, Perugia (in Umbria) and Cortona, this small family estate of around ten hectares cultivates four grape varieties (Syrah, Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet) on sandy, pesticide-free soils, and practices traditional hand-picking. Quality, rather than quantity, has been the priority for three generations!
A small boutique allows you to put together a basket of good products to take home or give as a gift. You'll find the estate's various wines, of course, but also their excellent olive oil, mille fleurs honey, saffron, homemade tomato sauce...
Among the tasting options, we highly recommend the one that includes four wines, an assortment of bruschettas with local cheeses and cured meats, and a tasty dish of fresh pasta with aglione(pasta all'aglione), a garlic endemic to Valdichiana, with a more delicate flavor than classic garlic. For a moment where you take the time to live, received with heart by a charming team. For an unforgettable tasting experience, in the peace and quiet of the Tuscan countryside, overlooking the vineyards...
