The city of Livorno is home to the largest aquarium in Tuscany. It has an interesting underwater archaeological area, where Taranto sarcophagi and the remains of a Roman ship have been reproduced. Useful to learn more about the Tuscan archipelago, as well as the Pelagos Sanctuary which extends off the coast of Tuscany, Liguria and southeast France. This 87,500 km2 maritime space is the subject of an agreement between Italy and France for the protection of the marine mammals that frequent it.
