MUSEO CIVICO GIOVANNI FATTORI
Civic Museum in Livorno with a beautiful collection of about 400 paintings of which Giovanni Fattori was the main animator
Livorno was the cradle of the Macchiaioli, a group of 19th century painters who heralded Impressionism. Giovanni Fattori was the main driving force behind this artistic movement. On the canvases of the Macchiaioli, exhibited in this civic museum, the landscapes of the costa degli Etruschi come to life through sunsets, marinas or scenes of harsh life. A beautiful collection of about 400 paintings preserved in Villa Mimbelli, dating from the 19th century.
