SANTUARIO MADONNA DI MONTENERO
Sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie, which houses a collection of religious ex-votos of a maritime nature
16th century sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie, patron saint of Tuscany. It houses a collection of religious ex-voto of a maritime nature. Legend has it that in 1345, a lame shepherd found an image of the Virgin Mary and carried it to the top of the Montenero pass. When he got up there, he didn't limp anymore. The image became an object of veneration and soon a sanctuary was erected in honour of Our Lady, which, in return, was not stingy with miracles in the following centuries.
