Church representing a strong sign of the passage of Napoleon on the island of Elba.

Built in 1677, the church is a powerful reminder of Napoleon's time on Elba. Every May 5 since 1852, a mass has been celebrated in his honor! The church also houses the body of San Cristino, martyr and patron saint of the town of Portoferraio. The small adjacent museum houses the flag that Napoleon gave to Elba on May 4, 1814, the bronze mask of Napoleon dying, donated by Prince Anatolio Demidoff, and the bronze cast of his right hand.
