PINACOTECA FORESIANA
Pinacoteca which conserves works from the 16th to the 19th century by artists such as Borgognone, Salvator Rosa, Guido Reni, Antonio Ciseri
The art gallery is located in a 16th century building, the former headquarters of the Order of the Knights of Saint-Etienne. Its name comes from Cesare de Laugier, an officer of Napoleon, whose mother was from Portoferraio, and hero of the battle of Curtatone and Montanara (war between Piedmont and Austria). It preserves works from the 16th to the 19th century by artists such as Borgognone (the Burgundian), Salvator Rosa, Guido Reni (known as the Guide), Antonio Ciseri, Plinio Nomellini, or Signorini who had discovered a perfect light for his paintings on the island of Elba.
