CHIESA SAN ROCCO
Church in the historic center of Rio Marina, presenting a Latin cross structure with a single nave and a low bell tower.
Located in the historic centre of Rio Marina, opposite the public gardens, this classic church has a Latin cross structure with a single nave and a low bell tower. It was built by the Lords of Piombino in the second half of the 16th century to provide a place of prayer for the many miners from the continent who came to work on the island of Elba. And the "Festa di San Rocco"? Every year, on August 16, Rio Marina celebrates San Rocco, the city's patron saint, with processions and various celebrations.
