Restaurant of the starred chef Valeria Piccini, in the small perched village of Montemerano.

Opened in 1987 by Maurizio Menichetti and chef Valeria Piccini, it is now one of the most famous restaurants in Tuscany and even Italy. The atmosphere remains intimate with its few tables. Da Caino is nestled in a 13th century medieval hamlet south of Saturnia, Montemerano, where time seems to have stopped. The dishes prepared by Valeria are unforgettable, for a unique culinary experience, rewarded with two Michelin stars. A cuisine that is both spontaneous and thoughtful to the taste of the Maremma.

Prima esperienza in un due stelle, aspettative alte... Ho scelto il menù dei piatti tradizionali. Eccellenti i ravioli all'olio, il sorbetto all'aglio, la qualità di pane e grissini.
Sono rimasta un po' delusa dal secondo primo (maccheroni con ragù di coniglio) e dall'impiattamento del baccalà (tra l'altro dissalato a mio avviso non alla perfezione).
Servizio e presentazione dei piatti migliorabile.

Non mi dilungo nei dettagli.. semplicemente tutto fantastico.. staff, cibo , vino.. è il mio ristorante preferito nel mondo.. vi invito a provare.. poi valuterete voi..

We stumbled upon this pretty little restaurant, and asked if they had a table for two. We were greeted and treated by wonderful staff to a delicious meal, with a god bottle of wine, Who cared and catered to ALL our needs. My only comment would be, don’t arrive feeling hungry, as with all gourmet restaurants the portions are small to say the least. I say this as one who owned a successful restaurant in the western Galilee.
Maybe it’s not fare to judge and compare, but one reason to eat in a restaurant is to feed not only the soul, which they did to a tee, but to fill one’s belly.
I raise my glass to your airs and class, but please don’t hold back on filling the plate.

Impeccabile. Ogni altro aggettivo sarebbe ridondante. Pietanze ottime e ravioli all'olio e il gelato all'aglio indimenticabili. La locanda una vera poesia e, per chi ama storia e vini, fondamentale esplorare la cantina. Vale l'esperienza, fosse anche una volta nella vita. PS: un andirivieni di giovani cuochi che imparano da una grande chef, il sapere che si tramanda alla prossima generazione, caratterizzante e di grande valore aggiunto
