SANGALLO PALACE HOTEL * * * *
Hotel, winner of several times of the Italian hospitality award cat. 4 stars, near the Rocca Paolina in Perugia.
Ideally located 50 m from Rocca Paolina (the ancient 16th century fortress) and designed by the architect Antonio da Sangallo, this hotel, opened in 1995, has won the 4-star Italian Hospitality Award several times. You can leave your car in the car park and access the old centre by taking the escalator that crosses the city. Indoor pool, gym... The logo and all the decoration of the hotel are based on a geometric motif found in the painting of the Annunciation by the famous Pietro di Cristoforo Vanucci, known as Le Perugino.

Rooms are modern and comfortable, of around 18 sqm, they ll host comfortably 2 adults, some are lacking of good sound proofing, so I asked to change, and had a perfect night.
The rooms are modernised, mine came with a balcony and a view on the surrounding hills. The hotel has a nice gym and a small but good pool in the basement, and it takes 10mns by foot thru the underground city medieval vaults (must be seen !) to get to the old town center. Check in was efficient even if a bit fuzzy, the breakfast was included and was good. On the con side, unlike all other hotels in Italy, they charge for the plastic water bottle you ll find in the fridge (in all other hotels i have been, at this level, it's free of charge) and they sell you slippers if you need some to access the pool and charge you a towel rental fee for the pool, practice which I find limit acceptable (I went with my running shoes and bathroom towel).
Check out was friendly and fast. Price wise it is on thr high side for the service received, at 150€, but the hotel rooms are good.
