ARCO ETRUSCO
Colossal arch placed between two massive dungeons, at the end of the Via Ulisse Rocchi.
Also known as the Arch of Augustus, it dates from the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. Located between two massive keeps at the end of Via Ulisse Rocchi, opposite Piazza Fortebraccio and the Università per Stranieri, this colossal arch stands 11 metres high. It was the main access route to the city through the Etruscan walls, opening onto the ancient cardo maximus. The Roman part bears the inscription "Augusta Perusia", which was affixed two centuries after its construction(Perusia is the Latin name of Perugia).
