PALAZZO DUCALE
Various exhibitions are regularly organized in the ducal palace.
Commissioned in 1470 by Duke Frederick II of Montefeltro (born in Gubbio in 1422), this building was inspired by the famous ducal palace of Urbino. Its interest lies above all in its sumptuous interior courtyard with arcades and columns, once a public space. Various exhibitions are regularly held there. Don't miss the study (studiolo) of the palace: a small space entirely inlaid with trompe-l'oeil (the original is in the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York)! Be aware that, from time to time, certain underground passages are open to visitors.
