FESTA DI CALENDIMAGGIO
To celebrate the arrival of spring, cultural events (theatre, dance, etc.) take place in the city.
It is the feast of the pagan Assisi which, by evoking the life of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, gets rid of the heavy religious paraphernalia that hugs it all year round. For three days there are theatrical events, dances, parades, demonstrations of archery and flag-throwing, as well as challenges between the districts of the city. To celebrate the arrival of spring, the streets are animated with festivities, symbolizing the rebirth after winter. The festivities begin on the Wednesday following May 1st.
