CALENDIMAGGIO
It is the festival of the pagan Assisi that, evoking the life of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, gets rid of the heavy religious paraphernalia that embraces it all year long. For three days there are theatrical events, dances, parades, archery and flag throwing demonstrations, and challenges between the districts of the city. This festival used to be traditionally held between April 29 and May1, but for several years it has been celebrated after May1 to avoid coinciding with other religious or secular celebrations.
