CHURCH-MUSEUM OF SAN FRANCESCO
A site preserving superb frescoes of the Umbrian school of the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries in Montefalco.
Montefalco plays an important role in the history of Umbrian painting. In the church of San Francesco, built by the Friars Minor of the convent and now transformed into a pinacoteca, important frescoes of the Umbrian school from the 14th to the 16th century can be admired. The frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli, dating from 1452 and representing the life of St. Francis, are a true masterpiece. They alone justify a visit to Montefalco.
