ST. CLAIR'S CHAPEL
Pretty chapel from the 13th and 14th centuries, located on the D8 between Aunay-sur-Odon and Evrecy, one kilometre from the village. A statue of its patron saint, without a skull cap, is kept inside. Why without a cap? For, according to a 9th century legend, Saint Clair was scalped instead of being beheaded by a mercenary executioner with little skill... Another legend: until the 19th century, an important domestic fair was held every year around this building! The resurrection of the chapel, threatened with abandonment, was the work of a handful of volunteers gathered in association. From now on, this beautiful example of Norman medieval architecture hosts many exhibitions and cultural events, including the famous Saint-Clair festival, which takes place every 1st Sunday in July.
