The origins of this traditional festival, literally the "race to the ring", date back to the 14th century. In honour of the patron saint of the city of Narni, Saint Juvenal, an heir to an ancient equestrian jousting event is organised. Young people from the city's three former districts (Mezule, Fraporta and Santa Maria), dressed in period costumes, must put on a ring held by two ropes around a spear. The heart of the action is located at the level of the houses that mark the beginning of Maggiore Street, near Piazza dei Priori.
