CHIESA SAN FORTUNATO
A church built between 1292 and 1460 with frescoes by Masolino da Panicale.
This church, built between 1292 and 1460, never finished, is one of the greatest monuments of Umbrian Franciscanism. It has a splendid central Gothic portal. On the facade around the portal, the saucy sculptures of the monks and nuns have their butts in the air! The three-aisled interior houses frescoes by Masolino da Panicale (1432), and the tomb of the Franciscan monk and poet, Jacopone da Todi (1230-1307), author of the Stabat Mater. From the top of the campanile (15th century), you will have a spectacular view of the Tiber valley.
