PIAZZA DEL MUNICIPIO
A beautiful square, with many remains, on the slabs of the via Appia in Rome.
The heart of the ancient and medieval Terracina still beats on this pretty square. In height, the town hall square extends over the slabs of via Appia. Here was the Emiliano Forum in the 1st century BC. The remains of the temple dedicated to the triad of capitolines can still be seen on the east side. The San Cesario duomo closes the square on the north side. Built in the 12th century, it still retains some remains of mosaic friezes on its front pediment. Having a drink or an ice cream on the terrace of one of the two cafés on the square is a real show.
