ALBA FUCENS
Archaeological site composed of remains of basilica, market, forum, amphitheater, baths and fountain
The archaeological site of Alba Fucens is definitely worth a visit. Of the city that was once a rich Roman colony, we can still see today the walls built in the early days of the city, that is to say in the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. The archaeological excavations were conducted from 1949, by a Belgian university. They brought to light the remains of a basilica, a market(macellum), a forum, an amphitheater (surprisingly preserved), thermal baths with their mosaics of marine representations, as well as an elegant fountain.
