PALAZZO DELL'ANNUNZIATA
Palace combining Gothic and Renaissance styles, with a museum with a collection of jewelry
The palace, built on the remains of a Roman villa(domus) dating from the first century BC, is considered the most important monument in Sulmona. Founded in 1320 as a hospital and rebuilt several times until the end of the 16th century, it harmoniously blends Gothic and Renaissance styles. Today it houses the municipal museums of Sulmona. Adjacent to the palace, the remains of a church destroyed during the earthquake of 1706. It was restored in some places by artists from Pescocostanzo.
