PIAZZA GARIBALDI
Formerly called Piazza Maggiore, this spacious square is surrounded in part by the remains of the aqueduct of the city's thirteenth century. The place has always hosted fairs, markets (every Wednesday and Saturday morning) and popular festivals. To see also, the baroque monastery of Santa Chiara, the small church of San Rocco and the different palaces. In the middle of the square, there is a great Renaissance fountain called «the Old», built by artisans of Pescocostanzo, representing some Solimo, the founder of Sulmona.
In summer, knights' tournaments are organized on this square Garibaldi, which then resumes its medieval looks. For more information: www.giostrasulmona.it www.giostrasulmona.it
