CATTEDRALE DI SAN CETO
Cathedral of San Ceso with a painting by Guerchino and a copy of the crucifix by Donatello
The cathedral of San Ceso (the patron saint of the city), named National Temple of Reconciliation under Fascist Italy, is located a little outside the center of Pescara. It contains a beautiful painting by Guerchino (17th century) representing St. Francis, as well as a copy of the crucifix by Donatello. Pre-Romanesque architecture dominates. Inside: three naves divided by marble columns and two chapels. One is dedicated to the patron saint of the city, the other houses the tomb of Luisa De Benedictis, mother of the writer Gabriele D'Annunzio.
