CASTELLO ARAGONESE
Castle at the end of a rocky promontory marked by its high walls and remaining towers
Located at the end of the rocky promontory on which the old Ortona is built, this castle was commissioned by Alfonso of Aragon in the middle of the 15th century. Its construction required four years of effort (1448-1452). The building has withstood the centuries, the weather, the bombings of the last war, and still stands majestically today, with its high walls and its three remaining towers. It is one of the symbols of Ortona, and it offers beautiful views of the sea and the coast of the trabocchi from the tower.
