With its 300 hectares of vineyards spread throughout the region, Masciarelli is one of the great wine names, in Abruzzo first, but also in Italy. This reputation, the domain owes it to its founder, Gianni Masciarelli, who was one of the first to perceive the potential of its land and of the indigenous vineyards of Abruzzo. At the time when he embarked on a wine-grower's profession in the early 1980 s, the region produced only medium-quality wine, distributed at local level, and was to be drunk. Gianni is interested in French winemaking techniques and is the first to use oak barrels for the production of Montepulciano and Trebbiano.
