CASTELLO CALDORESCO
Restored castle overlooking the Gulf of Vasto, once a court and prison
Located on a rocky promontory, this imposing 15th century fortress was commissioned by Captain Giacomo Caldora, who decided on a new defensive system for the city, overlooking the Gulf of Vasto. In 1439, the construction began on the foundations of a previous building. Successively court, prison (between 1605 and 1697), then restored in a private property, the castle is now used for residential and commercial purposes. Today we can only admire this monument from the outside.
