MUSEO DI SANTA MARIA DELLE MONACHE
Museum offering a complete panorama on the history of the Samnites from the ancient times to the imperial period.
The museum is housed in the old Benedictine convent of the church of Santa Maria Assunta. It contains archaeological materials found in the province and offers a complete panorama of the history of the Samnites from ancient times to the imperial era. Of particular interest is the copy of the Tavola di Agnone, an inscription in the Oscan language on a bronze plate, concerning the law of the sanctuary of Ceres, which was found in 1848 near the village of Capracotta. The original is kept in London.
