CASTELLO CALDORA
Bordered by the Carpino River, which crosses the village, the castle enjoys a privileged position, naturally defended on three sides by relief accidents that make it almost inaccessible. Destroyed on order of King Frederick II in 1223, he was rebuilt only a century later when the Evoli, a family of lords, acquired it in the xivcentury. He then proceeded successively to the estate of various aristocrats, including the master of adventure Giacomo Caldora who left his name, defeated in 1442 by Alphonse of Aragon. Damaged again during the earthquake of 1805, it was only recently restored.
Want to taste the castle life? Since 2016, the Château Caldora is on sale for about € 700,000! All the inhabitants wonder what will happen to this monument with great historical and cultural value.
