CHIESA DI SAN LEONARDO

This is the oldest church in Campobasso. Built, according to tradition, on the ruins of an ancient pagan temple, its construction dates back to the ^10th century. Its façade is pierced by a bull's eye made of a single block of limestone. On its exterior walls, there are some motifs carved in the stone, representing a pelican, a sun and a donkey with its bridle, among others. Inside the building there is a polychrome marble altar. The church has a beautiful view of the historic center of Campobasso and the San Giovannello hill.
