I’ve was fortunate to stay four nights and was truly delighted , thank you so much Goring and staff.
The service is impeccable but definitely retaining genuine warmth and a wonderful consideration of guests .
It’s a boutique family owned hotel , passed down through the generations , that has crafted a standard of hospitality that’s spot on . Very British and not in the least pretentious .
The food on offer has been wonderful ! The rooms are excellent too , again reflecting a particular warmth . They’re uniquely styled , my room had an incredibly beautiful silk wallpaper .
The location is superbly quiet yet right in the centre of London .
Thank you Goring for doing what you do so well , you’re individual and remarkable .
Hoping to see these change
The hotel rooms were beautiful, with lovely touches like the little Goring sheep to take home, a gorgeous turn down service and other treats like lip balm, pillow mist, fruit and even a jar of jam!
The ambience in the bar area was lovely, with great cocktails and bar food too. The live pianist on Friday night provided a warm atmosphere, which never felt stuffy.
The dining room was closed for renovation during our stay, so we had breakfast in the Veranda - the food was delicious with plenty of choice and again, nothing was a problem for the staff. Lovely views of the garden.
Location was super, a short stroll from Buckingham Palace, Victoria etc. Everywhere was really accessible.
Though expensive, it's well worth the money and the personal touches throughout. I hope I get to return in the future!
Really good selection of sandwiches especially salmon / egg with truffle and ham
With honey .. delicious.
I would say scones were decent but didn’t wow me enough ( maybe as I live in the Cotswolds ) ! The sweet selection was also nothing compared to other afternoon teas that I have been to in London. Cake was a bit dry and we didn’t eat it. Only 2 choices / apart from the cake in the dessert section.
We went for the champagne option which was Bollinger Rose. Have to say they poured a generous glass of Bolly.
Price was £95/- a head with 1 glass of champagne which is standard I guess for most of the luxury hotels in London.
Verdict - 4/5
Budget - £190/- for 2 with 1 glass of bubbly
Not sure if I will come back as there are plenty of options in London to try next time !
Would expect a bit more effort out of such an establishment.
