Gastro-pub offering rooms with a beautiful view of London.
To feel really in England, stay above a pub! Beware, The Orange is not a lambda pub, we are talking here about gastropub. The rooms are bright, spacious and wooded. We like each of the 4 rooms to have seen on a different side of the neighbourhood: Orange Square, St. Barnabas Church… For a typical and chic stay, a real stroke of heart.

The pub is a classic and the food, whilst punching above its weight, remains within squarely within the now well established lineage of gastro pub menus. What stands out is the quaint, carefully designed and plushly appointed bedrooms with their tiny yet country manor-looking en-suite bathrooms. One feels one could easily be in Oxfordshire for a fleeting moment, yet a stone throw away from Sloane Square.

Visited The Orange after its “revamp” which has been done nicely but the new bar doesn’t seem to be very practical as not enough space to prop yourself up there or eat small plates there, as too close to the tables along the opposite wall. Service was slow at the start, took a while to have our order taken, however, they were very attentive with pouring wine once it arrived. Food was good although my friend and I ordered the chicken with grapes and we weren’t informed upon ordering that that was literally the dish, no veg or anything else on the plate, so whilst the chicken was delicious, we feel some veg side dishes should have been advised. We had a very nice bottle of Picpoul. We would go back but there is room for improvement.
