To be honest, this is the worst style/fit out of the Z's, it needs a refurb, even with that in mind - we love it! We've stayed here twice in a month, in the same room both times. The staff here are exceptional, very helpful, and always very polite. The best thing about this hotel is the location. 10 mins walk from Covent Garden, walkable to Oxford Street, Carnaby etc. Soho is surrounded in awesome restaurants, all of which are 2/3 minutes from here. Love it. ????

Great location but noisy rooms from traffic outside. See through glass bathroom doors were awful, would never stay again, very uncomfortable stay.

Location is great for theatres and Covent Garden
The room was very small and extremely noisy throughout the night as it faced the road.
Make sure you get a room with no road view
Staff were very friendly.

Worst night ever, there was much noise from the street could barely sleep 2 hours. The heater wasn't working, the room was cold.
Next time I ll book few stations away from here...

Nice hotel near a lot of great places! Perfect location for me and my wife to do some fun activities around London

First time staying with this brand. Americans will find it tight, but you're in the heart of London and if you're only using it to sleep, it's all you need. Staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. The cafe downstairs was very good, and the nightly cheese and wine for guests (join the member's club!) was delicious. Nice note: the windows were double-paned (rare in the UK, from what I hear), so while it was still noisy (hey you're smack in the middle of one of the busiest spots in town), sound was much reduced and we had no trouble sleeping aside from the occasional emergency response vehicle. You are central to everything here - Picadilly, Chinatown, the theatre district, and easily walkable to major high-end shopping like Regent St and Saville Row, old Victorian alleyways with antique map and bookshops, tons of great local non-chain restaurants, bakeries and pubs, and everything you need.

Tiny but clean and well maintained rooms. Prefect as a base in the centre of London to be able to go in and out without having to worry about bringing bags everywhere.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Tiny room for the price, poor value for money. For £100 more you can get a great room in a 4 star premium hotel. Very noisy, cramped, sleep is very difficult

We had a tiny room but we where out all day anyway - hotel is in the heart of soho - we walked to all sights that you want to see visiting london (no longer than 30 minutes between sights) - booming nightlife right in front of the hotel but you dont hear it inside

Let me start by saying that in Central London, the Z Hotel Soho is great value for money. It's location is perfect for any tourist trying to squeeze a lot into a short time period. That said, our room was tiny and the bed mattress was hard. Nevertheless, I slept well enough! If I was staying here again, I'd definately go for an upgraded room.

Warm and friendly welcome! One member of staff on giving very helpful tourist advice and when his colleague saw we were waiting immediately invited us to the counter. We were checked in swiftly and in our from with in 15 minutes. The lobby had complimentary water and apples and the cafe/restaurant was open 24 hour.
Hot chocolate tea and coffee in the rooms complimentary and the room was very clean! Bed super comfortable. We had a no windows room and which suited me as it was only to sleep and shower in.
Speaking of showers. The bathroom and shower hide no secrets so make sure you’re staying with someone you are comfortable with! I’d happily stay here again and the location is perfect to get to most of London!
Thank you

Rooms are very basic, bar is basic but for central London location it can not be beat

Absolutely dreadful experience. Small, tired rooms that smell of the previous occupants, poorly maintained fittings and worn mattresses. The only good thing about this hotel is its location, but the price is far above the quality of the accommodation - avoid!

We stayed for a night in October. It’s the worst £243 I’ve ever spent.
Positives: The location is superb, in the heart of Soho, with a plethora of fantastic eateries on the doorstep. It’s a short walk to theatres too. I loved the compact design of the room and the shower was particularly good. The staff were brilliant and so helpful.
Negatives:
Our room was a trek to the third floor (I walk with a stick and requested a room with easy access). There is a lift, and an outdoor spiral staircase, which was not an option when pouring with rain. The bed was rock hard, the duvet ridiculously heavy and the room so hot, we were sweating (the AC wasn’t working, which appears to be its default state). I had also requested a quiet room. It turned out the Queen rooms are on the noisiest side of the hotel, according to the receptionist (despite being pricier), with vehicles continually driving over loose, loud metal drain covers all night. There was also no wifi.
After zero hours sleep at 3:30am, I went down to reception to request a room change. They were incredibly helpful, understanding and apologetic (I got the impression they might be used to regularly apologising and offering complimentary breakfast and late check-out). We were moved to an accessible room, far more spacious, quieter and with a super-comfy bed and lovely, light duvet. However, the room had a tang of the drains and the window was sealed shut, which was particularly unpleasant and the air con wreaked of stale water.
We were offered a free breakfast, but, even with our late checkout, we ran out of time. We had to cut our London break short and travel home early, being thoroughly exhausted after only two hours sleep.
Never, ever again!

Lovely and clean hotel

Can only describe the constant noise like a generator running above my room. It would have been better to sleep on a running washing machine. Rooms are for single person only with no space to move. Fine if you’re staying for a few hours.

This was a great hotel when it first opened many years ago, but sadly, standards have slipped so far that we had to request a refund after a recent one night stay. Our Queen room smelt of cheese, which the management tried to mask with chemicals. There was only one other room available, but this room smelt of sewerage - which the manager acknowledged. So reluctantly, we spent the night in the cheesy room, only to find that the shower was luke warm due to a broken tap fitting, and the mattress was so worn that it was flat and hard. This is not good enough at close to £200 per night. The location is great and the staff are friendly, but the company is clearly not reinvesting and keeping its standards up, and we will never stay at a Z Hotel again.
