Founded in 1946 by Geoffrey Grigson, Roland Penrose, Herbert Read, Peter Gregory, E.L.T. Mesens and Peter Watson, the Institute of Contemporary Arts quickly achieved the status of a museum of modern art, introducing the general public to artists of all kinds. Today, it hosts exhibitions and cutting-edge film screenings all year round. It's an astonishing sight in this very wise and traditional Mayfair district.
