Inaugurated in 2008, this mosque, largely financed by Qatar, remains one of the largest in Central Asia, with a capacity of 5,000 worshippers - as many as the Khazret Sultan mosque, which succeeded it as Astana's main place of worship. Its architecture stands out against Astana's modern buildings. Its dome rises to a height of 40 metres, dominated by four minarets that stand 63 metres tall. These two figures are no coincidence: they symbolize the age at which the Prophet received revelation, and the age at which he died.
