KHAN SHATYR
This modern version is located at the end of the new government quarter of Astana. Signed by the Architect Norman Foster and opened in 2010, Khan Shatyr is now an impressive performer. The evocative shape of a nave is 150 m above the ground and covers a surface of 140 000 m 2. It is covered with transparent thermoplastic, which is resistant both to the cold and to the warmer, and is more than just a giant shopping centre: a real city in the city!
Life happen's here is actually Khan Shatyr's slogan. In addition to the possibility of shopping in fashion, there are many restaurants and pubs but also attractions (try to get you into a cabin along one of the three inner pillars, or do the tour of the shopping centre in a large eight-way train), the most popular of which is certainly… the beach! A little madness that has certainly led to President Nazarbayev's popularity of a few points (except probably for those who will have seen the bill) and which makes it possible to dip throughout the year. In the evening, Khan Shatyr's Sky Beach Club often turns into an electro-track (unless the place is préempté by a private evening).
