The immense white façade, lightened by high windows and topped by a blue dome with a tall golden spire, bears little resemblance to the home of the President of the United States. The nickname was coined when President Nazarbaev took up residence here in 2004. The name " ak orda " refers to the White Horde, heir to the Golden Horde. The building cannot be visited, but virtual tours are sometimes offered on the website.
