Almaty International Airport is 12 km from the city center, about 30 minutes by cab. There are several bus connections to the city: routes 439, 492 and 497. Cabs are waiting outside the arrivals hall. Expect to pay between 10 and 15,000 KZT for a trip to the center. Almaty, much more than Astana, is a hub for national and international air traffic, with numerous weekly flights to several European countries.
