KAMOLIDDIN BECHZOD NATIONAL MUSEUM
This museum, which bears the name of a Tajik writer, is devoted to Tajikistan's history and ethnography. The building itself is quite amazing, with its huge perron topped with three arches, and its gigantic square clock, the local version of Big Ben. The collections spread over three floors, covering the history of the country from prehistory until independence. On the ground floor, you will notice a room entirely dedicated to the archeological finds of Pendjikent, with numerous wall frescoes. The top floor is devoted to contemporary art on the one hand and, as in all the national museums of Central Asia, the President and his great achievements on the other. Don't come out without taking a walk to the subsoil where a large department of mineralogy is found showing the extreme hidden wealth in the basement or the belly of the Tajik mountains. The exhibition continues with the presentation of the various national parks and protected animal and plant species.
