ACTED

Since 1999, the French NGO ACTED has been present in Mourghab and contributes to the sustainable development of an exceptionally poor and isolated area. In this context ACTED implemented an ecotourism program in 2001. A local association was created, META (Murghab ecotourism Association), to enable local people to invest themselves in their development. It can handle all administrative procedures, applications for authorizations and registration with local authorities. It manages a small guesthouse in Murgab, which offers full quality pensions (for the city, everything is relative!) to $ 15 per person. The association can also organize home dwellings and hike hikes with guides, carriers, logistics… META also works to protect and promote the unique and fragile natural and cultural environment of Pamir.
