Theatre-Museum located just behind the church of Figueres, is the last monumental work of the man with pointed moustaches

Just behind the church in Figueres stands the elephantine Dali Theatre-Museum, the last monumental work of the man with the pointy moustache erected on the remains of the municipal theatre, a sort of futuristic Berber palace crowned with a string of hyperbolic and mysterious eggs. Visiting it - it is in fact the city's star attraction, and the crowds throng to it - is like putting on distorting glasses revealing the absurd beauty of the world according to Dali, but it also allows you to appreciate the artistic genius that the man demonstrated throughout his career. Installed since 1968 in the old municipal theatre, it is quite disconcerting. In accordance with Dalí's wishes, no explanation is given to visitors. The master defined it as follows: " This museum cannot be considered a museum, it is a gigantic surrealist object, where everything is coherent and nothing escapes my understanding. "In the Dalinian Sistine Chapel, you will notice the visual effect of the portrait of Lincoln, the painting of Gala looking at the sea and the portrait of Beethoven done in octopus ink; in the former parterre of the theatre is the rainy Cadillac. Stereoscopy allows the paintings to be seen in perspective. The booklet on sale at the entrance helps to orientate you, but gives few explanations. The museum has recently incorporated the Torre Galatea, the painter's former home. Collection of 39 jewels created by Dalí between 1941 and 1970 and permanent exhibition of the sketches and paintings that contributed to their creation.
