TRINITAT CASTLE
This castle dominating the point of Poncella had three terraces, armed with cannons to defend the port
Built in 1544 during the reign of Charles V, this military construction was used to complete the citadel. Above the Roses lighthouse, this castle dominates the Poncella headland. Built in the shape of a star to avoid projectiles, it had three terraces, armed with cannons to defend the port and the coast and its garrison, and counted up to two hundred men. Its dimensions are quite impressive with walls over 2 metres wide and it is a very good example of the fortresses that protected the coast.
