This fortified bridge is the spectacular point of entry into the old town and the emblematic monument of the city
This medieval-style fortified bridge is the spectacular entry point into the old town and is also the emblematic monument of the city. It has seven arches, is 105 metres long and dates from the 11th century. Partly destroyed during the Spanish Civil War, it was rebuilt identically in the 1960s. A fortified tower about 30 meters high allowed to control the entrances and exits of the city and to collect an entrance fee. It is also appreciated at night when the illuminations highlight it.
