BANYS ÀRABS GIRONA
Discover this civil building of the end of the XIIth century which is inspired by the Muslim baths of North Africa
This late 12th-century (1194) civil edifice was inspired by the Muslim baths of North Africa. In Romanesque style, the baths are composed of several rooms: the frigidarium, cold bathroom, the sudotarium or steam room; the tepidarium, warm room; the caldarium, hot room and the furnus, oven and boiler. The apodyterium, a room dedicated to changing rooms and rest, has a beautiful octagonal basin with eight columns. It is worth noting the very good conservation of the site and the rarity of this type of construction in Catalonia.
