VIES VERDES GIRONA
The Vies Verdes, are paths designed for cycling and walking that can be found all over Catalonia
The Vies Verdes, or Green ways, are paths designed for both cycling and walking that can be found all over Catalonia, always located in a natural environment. Many of them follow the route of old railway lines and allow you to discover previously unknown areas. Accessible to families and disabled people, they are all very well signposted and allow to practice a free and healthy activity, to perpetuate the coordination between territories and to boost the economy of rural areas. Along the routes, often in old train stations, there are hostels, restaurants and bicycle rental agencies. The province of Girona offers several "Vies Verdes", such as ruta del Ferro i el Carbó (Ripoll-Ogassa, passing through Sant Joan de les Abadesses), Ruta del Carrilet I (Olot-Girona via the territories crossed by the rivers Ter, Brugent and Fluvià), Ruta del Carrilet II (Girona-Sant Feliu de Guíxols, passing through La Selva and Llagostera) and Ruta del Tren Petit (which runs along the Mediterranean). Also to be discovered is the Camí Ral i Ramader de Campdevànol trail (4 km around Ripollès) or the thermal route, the Ruta Termal (15 km between Caldes de Malavella and Cassà de la Selva, in Gironès). These routes are managed by the Consorci de les Vies Verdes de Girona, the local organization responsible for these routes: www.viesverdes.cat as well as the Pirinexus routes www.pirinexus.cat
