The old granary in Granollers is the setting for many cultural events.
It is the emblem of the city. This old corn exchange, built in 1587 in the Plaça Major, was originally built to cover the wheat harvest. Until 1872 it was used as a cover for the municipal market, but in 1968 it was moved to its current location. It was partly destroyed by the bombings of 1936 and rebuilt in 1940. 15 stone columns support its rectangular roof with four slopes. Many cultural events are organized on this square which is one of the nerve centers of the city.
