Private Roman villa with remains of sculptures, ceramic fragments and wall paintings
A Roman villa founded in the first century B.C. on the left bank of the river Congost where wine was produced, a precious nectar that the Romans exported to Italy, Greece and Egypt! During successive excavation campaigns, archaeologists have unearthed a mosaic from the 2nd century AD featuring a veiled woman, a remnant of sculpture showing the young Dyonisos, as well as fragments of ceramics and remains of wall paintings. But the partly excavated ruins mainly preserve luxurious thermal baths that were operated more than 2,000 years ago in the private setting of this Roman villa.
