REFUGI ANTIAERI DE L'ESTACIÓ
Underground air raid shelter rehabilitated as a museum with sound and audiovisual installations
Built in 1938 in the context of the Spanish Civil War, which broke out following a military coup d'état on July 18, 1936, this anti-aircraft shelter consists of more than 110 meters of galleries dug into the granite rock. At the heart of these underground tunnels took refuge the civilians and members of the Passive Defence Assembly during the air strikes carried out by Franco's army, such as the bombings of 29 January 1939, which killed some fifteen people in the region. The refuge has now been converted into a museum, where visitors can immerse themselves in the history of the Spanish War through sound and audiovisual installations.
