SANT JULIÀ DE MONTSENY
Beautiful church of Romanesque origin with remains of altarpieces preserving some elements of its original architecture
Remodelled in 1767 and again in 1872, this beautiful church of Romanesque origin has kept some elements of its original architecture, including its sloping square bell tower with a blind arch on each of its four sides. But why is it inclined? It is presumed to be due to underground currents. On the façade, a round window bathes the single nave in light. The latter is flanked by three side chapels of a polygonal presbytery. Inside, contemplate the remains of the altarpieces of Sant Marçal and Santa Anastàsia, dated respectively to the 16th and 18th centuries.
