MARICEL MUSEUM
Art museum with Gothic altarpieces, Baroque sculptures, modernist paintings and Renaissance furniture
This eclectic art museum displays Gothic altarpieces, Baroque sculptures, Modernist paintings, Renaissance furniture, etc. It occupies the rooms of the Palau Maricel and the former hospital of Sant Joan. The mirador room is undoubtedly the most beautiful: it is presided over by three sculptures by Joan Rebull (1899-1981), one of the major Catalan sculptors of the 19th century, exiled during the Civil War in Paris where he frequented Pablo Picasso, with a dazzling panorama of the Mediterranean Sea in the background.
