PLACE DEL BLAT
The square that welcomed the grain traders of the city and the surrounding area with wheat as the main product in the 15th century
The Plaça del Blat owes its name to the fact that in the 15th century it was home to all the grain traders of the city and its surroundings, with wheat as the main product. Framed by porches on two of its four sides, the town hall of Valls, built in 1595, is located here. But the square is best known as "kilometer zero of the castellers' world", that is, the supposed birthplace of the first castells, those human pyramids emblematic of Catalan folklore (Unesco heritage since 2010).
