The Festa Major de la Santa Tecla, which originated in 1321, when the precious relic - the arm of Saint Thecla - arrived in Tarragona from Armenia, is certainly one of the most important festivals in Catalonia and Spain. Every 23rd of September since then, in the afternoon, a procession called "popular escort" is organized around the relic that crosses the city before being brought inside the Cathedral of Tarragona, to the sound of bells!
